Theories and concepts related to Learning and Technologies

Digital Devide
This concept of 'Digital Devide' is changing for the past 15 years. Wolff and Mackinnon (2000) pointed out that "Digital Devide" is what we used to address a situation where inequalities in access and utilization of ICT. I think it has a lot more to say when it comes to different context of field and areas, thus particularly in different countries. Some have put this concept into levels: "first order of digital devide", "second order of digital devide" and "third order of digital devide"(for example by DiMaggion, Hargittai, Neuman & Robinson (2001); Dewan & Riggins (2005); Donat, Brandweiner & Kerschbaum (2009)). However, I just love the separation made by Helene Blowers. I hope she don't mind I'm sharing this slide :)
Sociocultural
With the proliferation of information and communication technologies in educational and everyday settings, scholars, working from a sociocultural perspective, are working to expand concepts, such as distributed cognition, to include not only people (e.g. ZPD) and artifacts (e.g. Person Plus; Activity Theory), but also digital technologies (e.g. Tools mediation).

Connectivism
Connectivism shares with some other theories for its core proposition: that knowledge is not acquired, as though it were a thing. Knowledge is, on this theory, literally the set of connections formed by actions and experience. It is the thesis that knowledge is distributed across a network of connections, and therefore that learning consists of the ability to construct and traverse those networks.
